Lowchens are groomed to look like lions and are nicknamed the Little Lion. Lowchens have been popular in Europe since the sixteenth century. At one time, Lowchens were considered the rarest dogs in the world. Lowchens have often been depicted in works of art. The Lowchen is closely related to the Bichon Frise.
